Keeping in view the urgent requirement of a college to radiate the light of education and to fulfill the long cherished dream of the economically backward but great aspirants of higher education in the greater areas of Dibrugarh and Sibsagar (presently Charaideo) district covering the Mouzas of Sepon, Moran, Khowang, Lengeri, Tingkhong, Mahmora, Khaloi-ghogora, Bokota and Nitaipukhuri, Moran College was established in 1964 on the noble initiative undertaken by a section of socially committed citizens of the locality so as to bring about an overall social upliftment of the surrounding areas. It was initially affiliated to Gauhati University, and later to Dibrugarh University, through the UGC. The college receives financial support from UGC and Govt. of Assam. The college imparts education in both Arts and Science faculty. Initially the Arts stream was introduced in its establishment in the year 1964. Thereafter, the Science stream was started in 1985. The courses provide wide options to the students. The college offers major in eight subjects in arts five subjects in Science stream besides Computer Science. Keeping in view the demand for professional courses and employment aspects, the PGDCA course was introduced in 2010, MBA, MSW, MCA, BCA were introduced under KKHSOU in distance mode.
The vision of the college is to be the center of excellence in higher education through quality education, educating students with the confidence, competence and quality to face life's challenges with a commitment to society and the nation.
