The Department of Physics, Moran College, organized a National Space Day 2025 Webinar titled “Unlocking the Gateways of the Universe” on 23rd August, 2025. The webinar aimed to inspire students and faculty members by exploring cutting-edge topics in space science and modern physics.
The programme featured two distinguished invited speakers. Dr. Parbati Sahoo, PhD from BITS Pilani (Hyderabad Campus) and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, currently serving as Assistant Professor at Bhadhrak Autonomous College, Odisha, delivered a talk on “Study on Wormhole Geometry.” Her lecture focused on the theoretical foundations of wormholes and their significance in gravitational physics.
The second speaker, Dr. Vivek Baruah Thapa, PhD from IIT Jodhpur and former Doctoral Research Associate at the National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Romania, currently Assistant Professor at Bhawanipur Anchalik College, Assam, presented “India’s Space Odyssey: From Satellites to Gravitational Waves.” His talk highlighted India’s achievements in space missions and advancements in gravitational wave research.
The webinar was conducted online via Google Meet at 1:00 PM, and e-certificates were provided to participants. The event was organized under the patronage of the Principal and Vice Principal of Moran College, with active coordination by the faculty members of the Physics Department. The programme successfully fostered scientific curiosity and encouraged students to explore emerging frontiers in space science and astrophysics.
